Pantoprazole Injection

Pantoprazole Injection comes with the brand name “PANTONIL 40” and is a proton pump inhibitor that can be used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, heartburn, erosive oesophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions associated with excessive acidity in the stomach.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease, well referred to as GERD, is a circumstance whereby stomach contents, particularly acid, back up into the food pipe or oesophagus. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is a rare disorder in which a tumour of the pancreas that overproduces gastrin, leads to peptic ulceration due to excessive production of acid.

Pantoprazole Injection contains Pantoprazole which inhibits the enzyme called gastric proton pump that is involved in the process of secretion of acid in the stomach lining. This action decreases the amount of acid released, essentially heals the oesophagal ulcers, and prevents the occurrence of new ulcers.
